Michaela Rabitsch, singer and trumpet player – is called “a modern day female Chet Baker” by the US magazine Jazzscene. Michaela and her ingenious partner, composer and guitarist Robert Pawlik present a group, resulting from the cooperation with the excellent Indian tabla player Vinayak Netke in the course of their tour through India and Malaysia in November/ December 2011, and with the outstanding bass player Stefan „Pista“ Bartus.
The tablas are the characteristic rhythm instrument of classical Indian music, drums with adefined pitch. So they not only deliver a rhythmical component, but also a harmonical one.
The repertoire consists of compositions of both leaders Michaela Rabitsch & Robert Pawlik. Besides Jazz they let flow in typical musical elements from western and eastern traditions into their deversifiedsongs. They present a new, exceptional and appealing fusion between World, Jazz and Indian music.
Jazz spiced up with a touch of world.
From Austria they come and this trumpet/guitar led crew just might conquer the world with their sound. (Chris Spector, Midwest Record Recap, USA)
