Thomas
Bernhard, a well-known austrian writer, ideated the Komödienspiele Porcia.
Today, these are known as one of the oldest summer theatre festivals in
Austria. From June to August, the so-called Ensemble Porcia produces classical
comedy plays, and this summer will be characterized by germanophone writers.
The mobile
theatre
Part of the
Ensemble Porcia is the mobile theatre called Theaterwagen. Using this trailer
as a little stage, the Ensemble Porcia travels throughout Austria and performs
for everyone, where and whenever this is wanted. In 2017 we will be presenting
„Der Tenor“, written by Carl Sternheim. A quartet of men, right before a
singers competition, is shaken by the death of their tenor, but even more
terrified about the fact that they have to find a new one. The only one that
fits is – in their eyes - a lowlife and non adequate person. And what’s about
baritone Hicketier’s young sister, which all men are running after? Having had
an accident, the prince himself drops in at Hicketier's family – and now? Come
and be surprised!
